Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964, is an American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010 and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress , and the only South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
